Ever, Jane - Open Beta Release Notes, Update 4.1 – March 29, 2017

Author Post
Sarah Hello again so soon! We decided that while we move the game servers to new hardware, we would take this opportunity to also add a couple fixes and changes to Update 4.

  • Gossip: The new iteration to a large piece of the Gossip System is available. While not yet connected to scores we’d love to get your feedback on this direction for the system. Push the “Lie” or “Truth” buttons above the Personality Traits to get started gossiping about your acquaintances! The new iteration of the Sleuth/response system will be available in an approaching update.

  • Home Ownership Plaques: Housing plaques should function more reliably to display the current, correct owner. Please let us know at if you encounter any issues.

  • Oakston: To allow more players to test home ownership you can now claim a home in Oakston. If you do not already own a home, you will need to start the story In Want of a Home and pick up the certificate from the Writing Desk in Mrs. Hatch’s parlor. A recent storm has opened numerous sinkholes and flooded basements in the village so please exercise caution. (Note: This is a test village without an art polish pass.)

  • Marketplace: By request, we have also added 5 new colors for the Ladies’ Riding Habit to the Marketplace: Rose, Sapphire, Sky Blue, Chrism, and (of course) Elderberry. More clothing and furniture options will be available in the next update!

The previous game client will no longer be able to login. Your existing account will login normally to the new version of the game. Get the newest version of the game client from our website:
(We’re continuing to add a Linux client but at this time do not have the hardware for testing it. Linux users, give us any feedback you have about this version of the client.)

Please keep a backup of your previous game client folder. Currently, any in-game letters you have sent or received are stored locally on your computer: ejLetters.yap. Copy this file and ejMag.yap between your game clients to preserve your letters and place in the Magazine. Your Journal of acquaintances is stored in our database and will be preserved with your character between updates.

Please see this article in the Knowledge Base regarding transferring your in-game letters and Magazine bookmark between game updates:
