dagngayt I realise that the church is still being built - but it has a very modern look at the moment. The habit of putting the altar in the centre of the chancel is fairly recent; until then, the altar would be against the east wall, under the window, and there would be an altar rail separating it from the choir stalls (on either side, facing in). In some churches there would be a rood screen, separating the congregation and the choir - although a lot of those were lost in the civil war in the 17th century.

Something else for the team to consider in their copious free time... ;-)
