Arthur Francis Weyerman

Author Post
Arthur Weyerman One does not come to a town like Tyrehampton without a good reason. To Mr. Weyerman the best and only reason is his very own status. And Devil himself knows he would use every devise accessible to him, his good looks included, to promote it. Even if it means Tyrehampton.

The young Master Weyerman is in his early twenties and is everything a man of quality should be. Except he is not - despite being adequately well bred and educated, he lacks the proper social rank compared to his ambitions.
Even though his family is of a formidable reputation, is very well off and the name carries a good sound, they do not have an estate of their own and a proper title. At least not yet.

Arthur is one of the claimants of the estate of the last Lord Horningsham who died childless, having only female relatives in respective female lines, Master Weyerman being one of them, basing his right on his mother being Lord HorningshamÅ› eldest niece through his eldest (i. e. absolute primogeniture; Lord HorningshamÅ› eldest sister's eldest daughter is Weyerman's mother).

If he succeeds in inheriting it, it may promote his chances to inherit the title (which is currently in abeyance) as well. Then, finally, he will be free to fulfill his ambitions and won't have to play the second fiddle despite his wealth and graces. That is why this young schemer carries out an office at the College of Arms under the Earl Marshall - to simply be close enough to keep an eye on the proceedings of the inheritance and also, to be able to pull the strings and persuade the Earl Marshall that he should be proclaimed the heir. It is also the reason why he moved to the area - to make a good impression and gain some influence there to promote his chances. It is also the reason why is looking for a suitable bride, preferably with money, liaisons and a title... If he manages to become the new Lord Horningsham in the public eye, he may as well become the new Lord Horningsham in Westminster and Whitehall.
